RECI and SEAD working meeting to address 5G

GTII-GTIII RECI meeting.

The working groups of Energy (GT2) and Environment (GT3) of the RECI met on June 27 with the Secretary of State for Digital Advancement (SEAD). The meeting also included the participation of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT).

The meeting revolved around the deployment of 5G and the EU recommendations contemplated in the new European Electronic Communications Code.

The deployment of 5G networks in urban environments took up most of the meeting, addressing a series of notable content and approaches:

  • Deployment of 5G networks in urban environments and its impact on the regulatory standards that govern local entities.
  • Development of innovative solutions for public managers and operators that contribute to establishing the general bases of cooperation between local entities, operators and infrastructure managers.
  • Yesmall cells.
  • 5G network sharing.

Other topics discussed at the meeting were those related to the initiative WIFI4EU and the implementation of the Single Information Point (PIU) by local entities.

In the first case, the existing obligations were addressed in case of being beneficiaries of vouchers for the installation of Wi-Fi in public spaces.

In the case of the PIU Order (published through RD 330/2016) its development by local entities was addressed.
