Spain improves its classification in compliance with the SDGs and shows a positive trend in 2019

Four years after the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, Bertelsmann Stuftung and SDSN have published the "SDG Index & Dashboards Report 2019", which measures the evolution of UN member countries in achieving the SDG.

In the case of Spain, in global terms it shows a positive trend, surpassing the previous year's report in 8 of the 16 objectives analyzed. This improvement allows it to advance 4 places in the classification, going from 25 to 21. This implies that Spain is placed above countries such as Italy or the USA.

Although they do not have their own specific objective, smart cities constitute a backbone element for the fulfillment of many of the goals contained in each sustainable development objective and especially in SDG11-Sustainable cities and communities.

The RECI Working Groups - Social Innovation, Energy, Environment, Mobility, Economy and Business - work very directly through the exchange of experiences and good practices to contribute to cities' compliance with the SDGs.
