RECI Board of Directors Meeting Summary

Last Tuesday, November 19, 2019, the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI). The event, which coincided with the celebration of the Smart City Expo World Congress of Barcelona, was chaired by the president of the RECI and mayor of l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Núria Marín.

The meeting addressed the various aspects contained in its agenda such as: the approval of two new agreements with other networks and institutions, the incorporation of new municipalities to the network or the upcoming renewal of the Board of Directors.

In relation to collaboration agreements with other networks and institutions, the RECI approved the agreements signed with the Innpulso Network whose objective is to consolidate and strengthen the lines of collaboration between both networks in search of smarter and more innovative cities, and with the National University of Distance Education (UNED) whose purpose is the collaboration of both organizations through training programs for experts in urban mobility and smart cities.

The meeting also addressed the incorporation of new friendly municipalities to the RECI, in the case of Andújar, in the Province of Jaén. With its incorporation, the number of RECI friendly municipalities rises to 34, in addition to 83 cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants belonging to the Network.

Ultimately, the call for renewal of the Board of Directors was discussed, for which it was agreed to establish the assembly in the first quarter of 2020.
