The Smart Cities Network met in Logroño to celebrate the 'RECI Dialogues' day and the General Assembly of the Network

The city, which holds the vice presidency of the Network, received representatives from different capitals to advance intelligent and sustainable management 

Logroño, which holds the vice presidency of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI), hosted on Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13, the 'RECI Dialogues' day and the meetings of the General Assembly and the Technical Committee of the Spanish Network of Cities Intelligent, made up of 83 Spanish cities united to promote economic, social and business progress through innovation and knowledge, relying on ICT.

'RECI Dialogues'

During the meeting of the network's Technical Committee with representatives of the cities that were part of the association, initiatives and experiences developed throughout the country were exchanged and the work being carried out in the five working groups was analyzed: social innovation, urban mobility and government, environment, energy, and economy and business. Likewise, the measures that would be adopted for the preparation of the RECI 2020-2022 Work Plan were presented.

To close the committee meeting, the 'RECI Dialogues' day was held, where trends in the world of smart cities and the present and future challenges of cities were addressed from a sustainable and intelligent development perspective.

This edition of the 'RECI Dialogues' had the participation of the Secretary General of Industry and SMEs of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Raul Blanco; from the founder and director of 'Ideograma' and expert in advice on smart citizens, Antoni Gutiérrez Rubí; the president of the RECI, Núria Marín i Martínez; and the mayor of Logroño and first vice president of the network, Pablo Hermoso from Mendoza.

Annual Assembly and Technical Committee

On Thursday, February 13, the General Assembly and Technical Committee of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities also took place. 

The annual Assembly of the Network is crucial, as it must elect the new presidency that will replace the current one, led by Núria Marín i Martínez, mayor of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and current president of the Provincial Council of Barcelona.

RECI was created in 2011 and currently has 83 cities, including the main Spanish cities such as Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Madrid, Málaga, Pamplona, Santander, Valencia or Zaragoza and many other provincial capitals. Logroño currently holds the first vice presidency of this network, whose founding session was held precisely in the capital of Rioja.

This association began to operate with the commitment to create an open network to promote the economic, social and business progress of cities through innovation and knowledge, relying on information and communication technologies (ICT).

The network aims to exchange experiences and work together to develop a sustainable management model and improve the quality of life of citizens, focusing on aspects such as energy savings, sustainable mobility, electronic administration, care for people , security or the development of new initiatives aimed at economic development and employment from cities.
