The mayor of Logroño participates in the round table on the future challenges of cities organized by the Secretary of State for Digitalization

Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza (mayor of Logroño), named president of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI), participated in the round table "Decarbonize, Digitalize and Distribute: Future challenges of cities towards 2050" on February 25 2020, a day promoted by the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA).

Meeting with the mayor were Antonio Alcolea, deputy director general of Promotion of the Information Society; Francisco Javier Martín (general director of Housing and Land); Jesús Ferrero (deputy general director of Renewable Energies and Studies; and Ana Estebaranz, deputy director of Innovation and Growth of the FEMP. Decarbonization, digitalization and distribution was already the topic that occupied the VI Congress of Smart Cities, addressing key aspects related to smart cities and territories, placing special emphasis on how the use of technology and innovation would allow us to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the European commitments of a CO2-free society in 2050. The The objective of the round table was to contribute to the process of identifying strategic lines of measures that should be implemented to promote the development of smart and sustainable cities. Aspects such as climate change, energy transition, digitalization of society, social implications, business and employment generation, disruptive changes, resilience and economic viability were addressed.
