The RECI participates in the closing of the VI Smart Cities Congress

Pablo Hermoso, president of the Spanish Smart Cities Network (RECI) and mayor of Logroño, spoke at the Conclusions and Closing Table of the VI Smart Cities Congress that was held on September 15, 2020 in person and online in Madrid.

At the Conclusions and Closing Table of the VI Congress Smart cities Juan Carlos Abascal, co-president of the Science and Innovation Cities Network, Innpulso Network, and mayor of Ermua, participated; Carlos Daniel Casares Díaz, general secretary of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, FEMP; Pablo Hermoso, president of the Spanish Smart Cities Network (RECI), and mayor of Logroño and Inés Leal, director of the Smart Cities Congress.

During his speech, the president of the RECI pointed out the COVID pandemic as a direct cause of the rapid adaptation to which smart cities are subjected to respond to a wide variety of specific problems that require concrete solutions, with technology being at the service of this incipient reality.

Cities that are not yet members of the network were urged to become part of it, in order to join more efforts and carry out more and better initiatives among members.

Likewise, the role of the RECI was emphasized as support to take on the challenge of the coming years in the green and technological transition process based on future lines of European financing, where local entities play a key role in every smart city. In this framework, it was also announced that work is being done on the network's 2021-2023 Work Plan.
