BIM Methodology Implementation Guide for Smart Cities

Working Group 3 "Digitalization and New Technologies" of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities is pleased to announce the publication of a comprehensive guide on the BIM methodology and its implementation in an organization.

At a time of unprecedented change in urban management and the construction sector worldwide, this guide is presented as a useful tool to adapt to the new models and tools that are shaping our activity. The paradigm shift in work models necessary for the real digitalization of the city is an urgent need.

It is essential to understand that a "construction project" encompasses its entire life cycle in the design, construction and maintenance phases, and not only during construction. Therefore, this guide seeks to disassociate the current concept of a construction project and recognize its integral impact on the configuration and development of the city.

The BIM methodology, or Building Information Modeling, is the approach chosen to carry out this digital transformation. It is defined as the process of creating and managing information using three-dimensional models throughout the entire life cycle of a construction, with the aim of providing a reliable and collaborative database for all agents involved in construction.

We invite you to download this BIM guide for smart cities.
